Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
edis install continued.
I bought some aluminum yesterday and have fabricated a bracket of sorts for the coil pack.[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I also decided to install the edis control module in the space vacated by the digifant ecu.
Just a case of drilling two holes in the ecu mounting chassis so it seemed like the most no-intrusive solution.

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
cheers djFlusted.
Ok well in the spirit of oddunit and to help my electonically challenged friend
You are looking at a
a: Coil pack.
Fires spark plugs.
b: Trigger wheel.
Provides reference for engine position.
c: VR sensor
Sends the electronic pulses generated from the trigger wheel to the EDIS cotroller so engine position can be obtained.
d: EDIS Controller.
Ok,the heart of the matter.Acts as an interface between ECU(megasquirt in my case) and the hardware in a,b and c.
It continually requests the amount of ignition advance required at the current instant in time from the ECU.
The ECU then sends this information in the form of a pulsewidth. The length of the pulsewidth received from the ECU denotes the actual amount of advance that the EDIS module should achieve. The module then triggers the coil at the correct moment in time to achieve the disired spark angle as requested by the ecu.
The trigger wheel is the thing that makes this system more acurate in terms of the amount of advance that finds it's way to the flywheel as opposed to using a distributor which looses accuuracy because of gears and all the play that comes from the intermingling of so many moving parts etc.

Cool. When I read this sort of stuff I find it really interesting but I just don't have the patients at 37 years of age to implement or see something like that through. Maybe in another 5-10 years I'll have your zen like qualities.

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
trying to do small little things each day.
Modified the MS board to work with edis(case of moving one jumper on the back).
I also made up my fuel rail loom and made a small start on re-doing my main loom.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
Also made the decision that I am going to run the MS extra code because of the added features.
The main one being that I want EGT logging.
I am going to try the expansion board that runs with this software that gives you a few more general purpose i/o ports for you to do what you will with.
I'll try downloading the software to my megasquirt box tonight me'thinks.

added small cct to enable EGT to the MS development area

Also trial fitted my brakes.I bought them a couple of years ago and have not paid much attention to them since.
I remember thinking that they would be plug and play with supplied bracket but I think that assumption was wrong. Some of the threads on the bracket had seen better days so i got them helicoiled.
Anyway I have spaced them out to fit.
What do people think??

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
Rob, I'd be tempted to put a spacer plate in between the caliper bracket and hub carrier rather than spaced with washers, it may provide a more flex proof solution? Maybe?

You gonna get completely new adapters made then?dirtytorque wrote:mrbeige wrote:Rob, I'd be tempted to put a spacer plate in between the caliper bracket and hub carrier rather than spaced with washers, it may provide a more flex proof solution? Maybe?

Well, I should imaginectwg60 wrote:Be interesting to see how they perform.

I'll discuss it with them.
That will probably be to labour intensive for my pocket tho.
I'm guessing just a spacer plate.

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
New damper bracket back from the fabricator as the one I have been using belongs to Yan.
They did a really nice job.

It was a car port that my neighbour and I basically converted into a couple of garages.kevhaywire wrote:Is that a block paved garage I see? THAT is awesomeness
