He said that it increased compression ratio by 0.5, and that led to an improvement in torque. I been thinking about why that was, and determined that all it does is improve thermal efficiency, and thus make more from the existing fuel ai... Hopefully the questions will get less tupid with time. grazie. Comments: 6 Alfa MultiAir engines Fri Oct 16, 2009 7:17 pm by Toad Morning. Been reading the latest Evo magazine, im which they looked at the new cloverleaf Alfa Mito which has a new 1.4 engine featuring what they call MultiAir. It features a head with vaves laid out like a DOHC head, it's only 1 camshaft though with lobes for both inlet and exhaust, sat above the exhaust valves. It h... [ Full reading ] Comments: 2 1999.5 spec US VR6 inlet manifold. Sun Oct 11, 2009 9:51 pm by Toad Afternoon. As far as I know the late US VR6s got a plastic inlet manifold with variable geometry, much like the R32s and 24Vs. Now, this should be retrofittable to the older VRs, I assume they just need an adaptor for the throttle body, and a little bit of piping making up? Does anyone know anything about these? Do the... [ Full reading ] Comments: 7 Spark plugs - Platinum? Tue Oct 06, 2009 8:21 pm by Toad Morning. I just bought a new set of spark plugs for the VR, looked at various options and decided on the recommended BKR5EKUP ones, which have platinum tips, now I could have bought the normal ones, or the iridium versions, but I wasn't entirely sure, and as I won't be changing them for some time, I thought I'd spend the extra £20.... I would expect that idle would be much improved doingthe former, and still being able to deliver the larger quantities of fuel when required. Does that make mapping diff... Any special tools? ta. Comments: 6 Spark plugs - damp and smelling of fuel.... Mon Aug 31, 2009 12:08 pm by jmc Just whipped my plugs out to have a look. 2 are fine and dry, but 2 were slightly dampy and smelling of fuel. Now I am assuming this is not particularly good, but I've not noticed any change in performance and the car is not feeling any different. Any thoughts as to what could be causing this folks? Comments: 10 Which engine is best? Mon Aug 31, 2009 12:14 am by junkie Whilst im planning what car to build i keep thinking about rear wheel drive and all sorts of different engines. So do you think 20v turbo as people say its the new cossie engine or its best to stick to the original classic engine thats a cossie engine of course. Any other suggestions welcomed. Comments: 3 |
