New clutch time...
So it's another removal of gearbox to sort out the clutch slippage.
Question is i'm gonna be needing something that will with stand boost spikes
of up to 2Bar turbo press.,1.8 fixed, which will be over 400hp...
The useless 1 i've got now is a Sachs VR press. plate modded with a stronger spring, riinforced Kevlar F1 disc and deeper step machined into the flywheel.
This set-up slips at .8Bar boost, smoke coming out of gearbox bellhousing...
Some1 recommend a good set-up,pref. AP racing etc.
Cheers.

Re: New clutch time...
AP Racing don't do a clutch for the 02A transmission
I've seen the Helix fastroad clutch (organic friction disc) handle 450hp from a VR6 turbo. That uses the Sachs sporting pressure plate, but modified a bit by Helix. It's rated to 290lb-ft torque, but can handle a LOT more.
That's one option, otherwise it's going to have to be American clutches. SPEC, Clutchmasters, Centreforce etc etc
From my experience, Centreforce are excellent, light pedal and high torque handling. Judder free too compared to most yank clutches....

Allrite kev,I've also looked at Centerforce but i'm not 100% convinced about that dual friction setup, similuer to this Kevlar F1 cobblers i've got at the moment.
I've seen many on eBay in the states, all claim this and that but it's not them doing the work, how can 1 be sure that the various clutchs WILL hold
380,400,420hp??...

I know what you mean mate. The old school "Centreforce II" clutches were good, but that was 10 years ago. They don't get good reviews anymore.
It's difficult to know which clutch will hold. I would say SPEC or clutchmasters would for sure, but the pedal will be heavy and they will probably judder.
Will the bigger clutch from the 02M not fit inside an O2A bell housing? Stock clutch all the way for smoothness and I think a late 02M turbo diesel clutch would hold your torque...

Re: New clutch time...
Yeah i was thinking along the same lines.
I was wondering about something like the R32 clutch but i've got
no experience on the more modern Vdub's gearboxs and dual mass flywheels.
I'll have a look what's on offer and do some research.

Re: New clutch time...
TDIs, 1.8Ts, R32 etc..... they all have them!
One of the worst inventions ever imo, completely crap and a waste of time. Just stick to damped friction discs instead, which has worked for 100 years
