Can someone explain if the VR/G60 4bar fuel pump 1H0919615Q produces 4 bar maximum or 4 bar minimum and what a 3 or 3.5 bar rising rate bosch fpr will produce with 0.5 bar of manifold manifold pressure. It's a lazy question I know but there you go.

I don't know about the pump, but I assume it's a certain flow at 4 bar.

The RR FPR will depend on the rate it's set to I think, i.e. depends if it's at 1:1 or 1:10.

Could be totally wrong though

The regulator governs what pressure the pump delivers. Pumps deliver their max free flow all the time, but some have lock outs and physically won't exceed a certain pressure demand. As demand (pressure) increases, flow reduces so although the VR6 pump can deliver more than 4 bar, it may not necessarily deliver enough flow at 4+ bar. Depends on the engine's fuel demand.

For boost, I personally would consider anything less than a Walbro GSS340. Drops right into the VW pump housing and is high pressure specific. 244lph @ 40psi, 217lph @ 60psi.

I have run 8psi on the standard VR6 pump (4.5 bar rail pressure) but it was pretty damn close to the edge for comfort....

So the VR pump can deliver 4+ bar but not necessarily enough fuel at those pressures. I knew you'd answer this one Kev! Very Happy

There's 2 pumps, they changed manufacturers at some point, hence needing a different level sender if you replace an old pump with a new one.

I have had a VR pump in my hand, but I can't remember exactly what it looked like.

If you decide you don't want that one. I'll buy it off you.

That pump doesn't look right to me, but if it slots into the petrol tank OK it should work.

Yeah the VR6 pump can probably supply 5 bar or more, but the flow will drop significantly. Should be enough for your 4 pot engine though.

OK just did a quick test of the fuel pressure in the rail 2.6 bar at idle or below 0.5bar map vacuum. 3 bar at atmospheric pressure 1 bar and a maximum of 4 bar or there abouts at maximum boost/rev limit 1.75 bar map.

Non lazy way now!

Oh anyone know if it's illegal to duct tape a fuel pressure gauge to your windscreen?

OK the fuel pump is not correct for the car, Tom are you still interested. Looks like it will fit into the tank but and hook up to the electrics with some rewiring but there is no where to mount the fuel sender! Crying or Very sad

So where the best place to get a pieberg VR6 direct replacement fuel pump or anyone know the part number for it so I don't have to pay VW loads of money for one?

Ordered a fuel pump from TPS £109. Not bad it'll be here tomorrow. The one I have will work with the later VR sender. It would just the current adapter loom removing. Bummer for me. £50 it yours Tom.
