Ooooh another 16vT! Good stuff!
We need pics, not necessarily a full build thread, if that is loads of hassle, but a cut down version would suffice

Re: Golf Mk2 2ltr 16VT/megasquirt v3
ok i guess, megatune was a pig to setup ,copy this, copy batt file to load inq files or somthing, config menu, what time chip i have, pcb board, what version code that its installed, all b4 i can start u megatune, so you can get lost, why cant things be made simplier so you dont have to copy this or that. Just plug in the ecu, and auto config will do lol.
, i like the idea of being able to adjust wot you like when ever you like, but its proper complex for newbie like me, so many parameters to setup and the manuals dont make sense half the time if your not advanced degree in mechanical/electrical enginnering ha ha
its running , 0.2 bar, and half tuned, rev limter is et at 5500 revs ,as its not ready for full tuning { im ready now, mot,tax,insurence ect. }
im gettin toyotec { clubgti } back in a week to finish off the tuning, .
ive got probs with the temp sender not working, even tho its new temp sender and wiring, so this is a pig to start at different outside temps, so i have to have a laptop at all times with me to re-adust fueling if ie its colder or warmer out side, ive got 5 different maps that i can switch at a button, so its not to bad , just not that practical at the mo

Re: Golf Mk2 2ltr 16VT/megasquirt v3
As has been said elsewhere, the calibration of a standalone is 9/10ths of the battle. I've seen some of Toyotec's work and he really seems to know MS inside out. Once you get the mapping right, it'll be a beauty, but you're right MS isn't for the faint hearted, in fact I think it might be one of the worst to get running right, as it has soooo many variables to allow it to be used in so many different applications.

..but once you start to home in your your setup you can't start filtering out what you don't need to know for now.
Thats why you should approach it from the point of view of your car rather than just wading through the manual trying to learn all of it.
toyotecs car was an inspiration to me i must admit.

We all survive on pics, vids and technical stuff!
Has Toyotec done some of the tune already then?

Re: Golf Mk2 2ltr 16VT/megasquirt v3
yeah he came over bout month ago, to get it going, ticking over on my drive, he put and over boost protection on and rev limit to 5000 revs, as its not properly tuned up , VE tables and spark angles ect , so hopefully this should be all done and i wont have to use my laptop to start everytime lol

Re: Golf Mk2 2ltr 16VT/megasquirt v3
yeah he came over , spent all day again tuning, went down militery road on the island which has some straight parts, but is very un-even at high speed. lol had to hold on and very tight.
its tuned much better since last visted. the temp senser issue was sorted as the wire in the plug it self had crimped against the casing of the multiplug top, earthing out. now i dont need laptop to adjust warmup, its doing it self which is good, and no hunting wot so ever.
red lined it round to 7000 rpm, and 250 kpa, boost gauge was reading 0.6 to 0.8 bar. the only thing that needs adjusting is the actuator arm as its to loose and not clamping the wastegate down to build up that pressure. so the performance is still not at its peek yet, which is scary as its really quick as it is at 0.6 bar. im killing civic type r's and that which is funny. but when i tighten the arm up .that should shuv me back into the seat and un-leash the full power of this turbo, which means toyotec must come back for a 3rd and final tune after xmas, ,
overall, massive results and its now proper drivable, no laptop and easy driving, off boost and its still nippy and quick like b4 i even turbo'd it, proberly due to the fact its had twin exhaust cams,polished/ported head,

Re: Golf Mk2 2ltr 16VT/megasquirt v3
dunno at the mo cos the innovate isnt reading with megasquirt, the gauge in the car is also just reading 14.7 or slightly above, its doesnt change, so i think theres a problem with the 02 senser, i need to borrow flusteds lol to check if my controller is working properly

Re: Golf Mk2 2ltr 16VT/megasquirt v3
yeah, make sure you calibrated the right signal too,as there are two,one intended for a guage and one intended for the ecu.
Sounds like you have the one for the guage linked to the ecu.
