I really like what you've done there. Good skills mate! if you could just shift the car out the way a bit and show us more of the pattern....

On a another note I don't think that is the best way to attach the inlet manifold, after all engine is not longitudinal, I'd also place the header tank in the engine bay, much more useful than the windscreen favoured on e38! . I have never needed a 100w bulb at the back of engine?? What's it for?

Do didn't have to mod the front member then?

a little.
just for peace of mind.
Not enough to compromise it structurally at all.

wiring for coolant coil pack and intake air temps and fuel line completed.
Tomorrow hoping to calibrate the sensors plug MS into the loom and check i'm getting good values read into megasquirt.

Connected electricity to my car today.
Connected MS to the car and calibrated the temperature sensors.

coolant was reading too high with Bentley g60 resistance values so i had to measure the 16v sender directly.

broke out the icecream.

correct value.

EGT value is a little off. This is it just reading the current air temp so it should of been 10-15 dgrees. However it is working over such a large temp range that a 15-20 degree error is nothing to be worried about in this particular application.
I may be able to re-calibrate it.I'll have to look into that.

Obligatory engine shot.

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
I saw on CF that Yan was having issues with his belt setup shreading the belts. How similar is his to yours?

Not sure as he hasn't put any pictures up of his final design.
At this stage i have done all I can to design something that will work.
Now it is a case of trying it and see.

I think yours will work as it is essentially the same belt contact and length! And tensioner system You'll be fine! I think:D[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
dear diary...
EDIS is no more.
The module i have dosn't work.Check cables and voltages a 100 times.Checked the output from the VR sensor and still no joy.So I have decided to run wasted spark using the vr sensor and trigger wheel but without the EDIS module.
Just finished changing all the wiring and modifying the megasquirt board jumpering and fitting a few extra components. It has made the wiring alot simpler and it is one less thing to go wrong tbh.Didn't really like having another "black box" in the car anyway.
Also the MS missing tooth software is more flexible in terms of where the VR sensor is mounted in relation to the missing tooth at TDC which has allowed me to make another bracket and mount it in a slightly better position.
I have turned the car over on the starter and i get a good tach signal now registered on the laptop and it is firing the two coils.
I now have a slight issue with the water pipe from the bottom of the water pump that goes around to the heater matrix.it dosn't seem to want to navigate past the 16v head. The valver pipe must be different to the g60 one si i have bought a 16v pipe to play with.

So alot of work still to do.The install looks a mess and needs alot of refinement but i got the car the idle today for a minute or so.
Tried yesterday to no avail, but was half expecting that with a new setup which is very different to my last MS attempt i.e trigger wheel large injectors 16v head etc.
The thing that made a big difference today was opting to use 2 squirts an ignition event as oppose to one.Maybe it is a characteristic of the injectors i'm using or maybe its because of the 16v head.
Anyway the tensioner system held up to it's first little test,I got 13.5 volts from the alt during the time the engine was running. Its very loud at the moment as i have an air gap in my zaust.I need to put a temporary section in there so I can quiet it down while tuning. Can't work in that racket.
My initial thoughts on the wasted spark/trigger wheel setup are very positive.A good decision, not having to worry about what postion and offset angle the distributor is currently working at in relation to TDC.With a trigger wheel it all becomes simple. And with a timing light i was getting strong consistent pulses while cranking,so from then on i just concentrated on fuel.
Still alot more work to do,but it's moving forward.Nice to see then engine move under it's own steam.

Well done Rob
Should be heading to Newbury this week at some point if it is easier to meet me to collect that hub, and the other thing you asked about which I haven't remembered...
