EGT probes...
Ok, so, I'd like to include an EGT probe of my build, but no little or nothing about them. EGT probes are just thermocouples, but what type of signal do they generate? Is it a voltage? Would I need some kind of input circuitry to use one? I know that my MS daughter board has some type of micro on it, but I have no idea what it does
Re: EGT probes...
Yes they need special electronics to operate them like an AD595 chip which has the necessary cold junction compensation which is basicallly a mediating signal that compensates for small changes in ambient temperature that can upset the accuracy of the reading.
That's as much as i needed to know.
MS uses this chip, although the circuit they built around it needs improving I think as my signal suffers a bit from noise.

Ok, so with a little bit of jiggery pokery, a little 'bodge' board could be put together fairly easily to outputs either a 0-5v or 0-12v voltage range?
