Centre lock wheels
I'm having a wheel whoring moment again and fancy something a little different.
Anyone have experience of fitting centre lock hubs to a road car?

Re: Centre lock wheels
It seems all the best and lightest 5 spoke wheels are magnesium centre lock jobbies....
AFAIK, the wheel locates onto little pegs on the brake disc and you have a long threaded tube poking through the middle of the wheel, which the centre nut screws onto. I know it's for quick and easy wheel changes in the pits, but I'm a tart and want them on a road car
I'll have a look on Demon Tweeks and Rally design for the parts !

Kev, you are such a wheel whore!
Interesting option though. Are the weights that significantly different to the wheels you currently have? I'm assuming that's the reason for your pondering...

Re: Centre lock wheels
Absolutely. My all time favourite 5 spoke is a Speedline centre lock magnesium fella, weighs about 6Kg in 17" size, which is 3.2Kg lighter than my current 17s!

Re: Centre lock wheels
Usually light as hell due to the high magnesium contents, but often weaker as a result which on a road car with potholed roads and stiff suspension isn't always a good choice. They might also be a lot easier to nick!

Re: Centre lock wheels
Good points, plus they corrode to pieces - badly - as magnesium doesn't like water
It's not a pure mag wheel I'm after, but rather a mag alu composite, which gives the strength and lightness in one

Been meaning to ask, who the fun is that in your Avatar? I can't tell if it's you with a wig on or just someone who uncannily looks like you, LOL!
Is he one of the Osmands ?
