1.8t fuel rail rails
what pressure are the fuel pressure regulators on these fuelrails rated at?
Or is there alot of variance between models?

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
pretty sure they are 3bar...I'm sure a 1.8T expert will come along and confirm though
Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
Standard 3 bar.
4 bar regs are available from vw.

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
would you advise uprating the pump with a 4 bar fpr ?
I have a late g60 which has the same pump as a VR in it.

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
or use a 3.8bar from a vauxhall for a fraction of the cost of the 4bar VW ones.

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
How about using a K-jet pump? They run at around 8-10bar don't they?dirtytorque wrote:would you advise uprating the pump with a 4 bar fpr ?

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
Will both the above options just screw into the vw fitting in the tank??
thanks.

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
The k-jet pump mounts underneath the car with a lift pump so not really an easy fix.
The vauxhall pump sounds like a plan

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
yup,the vauxhall sounds almost too good to be true.
Just wondering if vw and vauxhall use universal fittings for mounting?!??

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
What i normally do is fit a mk1 golf gti pump inline. Bosch unit is about £85. You'll need a few fittings and make a new bracket for the fuel filter. This would support over 400bhp easily!

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
Actually I have a 4 bar VR fuel pump installed in my g60 anyway.
I'm pretty sure the VR fuel pumps are 4 bar.VW sell them now as replacements for g60 pumps.
Is running a 4bar fpr pushing the limits a bit with a 4bar pump??

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
OBD2 Golf VR6 pumps are 3 bar, but all Corrado VR6 pumps are 4 bar.
I know that the Corrado's 4 bar pump can only manage 4.5 bar max ...so anything over 8psi boost is risky.....but it depends on injector size / flow etc etc.
I like the Bosch 044 pump, high flow and high pressure. Use that with a stock intank pump and you'll be sorted for 550 - 600hp.

How much work is involved in putting one of these in series with my current pump?
is yours in the engine bay,or under the car?
is that your bosh inline pump I can spy under the fpr ?

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
Mine's not fitted yet, still sat in the cupboard
That's my air filter under the FPR!
I've seen and heard an 044 on a mate's VRT though and it's a really simple install. I'll do a write up on it when I get round to it as there's a few things to consider at the same time, but it is an easy job
A good option for you in the meantime is the MK2 16V setup. Most, if not all of it will bolt right up under the floor. You will probably only have to drill a couple of holes at the most.
The fuel line that normally feeds the filter in your current setup would now feed the main pump, which is your lift pump's output. The main pump then feeds the filter and off you go. Keep the filter down stream of the pump as per stock. External pumps prefer pushing fuel, rather than pulling it, through filters.....
Bosch 044s and Walbro 255/lh externals need wrapping in foam or something to reduce noise. The Walbros especially, are very loud!

nah I didn't mean you bmc,i thought I saw a silver object under there too.
Thanks for the tips.Good stuff to know. For now I have decided to go for larger injectors rather than increase rail pressure.
So i'm going to run something that is capable of delivering 430 cc @ 3 bar.
so some 440 jobbies.
Anyone else using these?
If so have you managed to get a nice idle close to stoich??

That's probably the ally intake pipe you can see
You'll have no trouble idling at 14 - 15AF with 440s

Re: 1.8t fuel rail rails
I installed a Bosch CIS pump ages ago into
my g60's fuel tank, just use your noddle and
modify the g60 pump cradle.
Just remember to always have a bit of fuel inside the
tank otherwise it'll suck in air.Noise wise it's fine, yeah you can hear it
but nothing over the top.
The hardest bit is getting the bloody prongs located on the bottom
of the plastic retaining cradle ingauged on the locking ring, the petrol inside the tank distorts the bottom image of the tank when you shine your light on top of the pump hole making puting back the whole thing in that confind space 'interesting'...
1 thing that's very important is checking that you actually have 12v at the
pump, especially under boost, you'd be amazed at the difference between
a fuel pump running 11v and 1 running at 12+ Volts.

/\ Yep, which is why my pump is relayed straight to the battery. This also takes a LOT of load off the fuel pump relay.
