Are you sticking with the dizzy or are you going toothed wheel and coilpack?
The engine is coming out so i can sell a few bits off it to get me over the line.
It will also stop me driving it about wasting money on petrol and car tax.
The engine won't be ready until probably Feb.
i'll be trying to get it done sooner.Money is the main constraint.
I'm going to keep things simple and go with the dizzy for now. That way I won't have to purchase any new hardware and it is a setup i'm familiar with so hopefully that should speed up the "start up" phase.
I don't want any more faffin than necessary.
I just want to cross the line now and have something to show for all the time and money.

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
Seems like a sensible thing, change as little as possible at any one time, so as to reduce the possible failure modes. Have you done an FMEA? lol
So you've got most of the stuff you need then? I guess you've only got the "parts that you need the engine in to know what you need" to get then, like boost pipes etc?

Exactly
The rest of the stuff I'm going to buy once the engine is in so I can deduce exactly what I need rather than buying something that i then won't be able to use.
I'm thinking of buying a g-werks 16v fuel rail.
The fuel rail is the last major component that I need.
I was thinking of using a 20vt one but I'm not sure about extending the runners.
FMEA?
No.
I havn't been sleeping well this week as it it lol.

FMEA - Failure modes and Effect Analysis. I was mucking about
Make sure you take plenty of pics, I want to know every last detail lol

Yes I'll send over monies and courier in the week. What are you keeping the bottom end for? Sentimental reasons?

I'll sell it eventually,i'm going to take the flywheel clutch etc off stick the 16v head on and then put it back in the engine bay to start mapping out boost piping waterworks etc..

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
You're not using hte PG block though, are you? I thought you had a 2E that you were using? Or is this purely for working out pipework etc?dirtytorque wrote:I'll sell it eventually,i'm going to take the flywheel clutch etc off stick the 16v head on and then put it back in the engine bay to start mapping out boost piping waterworks etc..

just for mocking purposes while I finish the engine outside the bay.
It also gies me a place to store the pg as space is limited in the garage.

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
took the gearbox out re-attached to to the engine and then rested it all back on its mounts so I can start to work out air and water piping.
Its nice to see it in there. It focus's you in on what you need to do.
For one thing I think It will be alot easier if I delete my carbon canister setup.
Also found a crank pulley for a 16vg60 on [You must be registered and logged in to see this link.]

New short runner intake manifold should also be arriving next week too.

What did you do with the head? Had it rebuilt or did you do it yourself?

Yeah. I only had a quick look at it, but it's sat in the passenger footwell of the VR out of harms way at the moment. Got a funny feeling that it has some paint on the mating face though.

Re: DIrtyTorque's odd corner.
Unfortunately it's about that time.
Have to re do my wiring as when I done it I was always going to re do it better. All I was concerned with at the time was getting the engine started any which way but loose.
Its time to address it though and a few other wiring things that I want to sort out.
[You must be registered and logged in to see this image.]
I also noticed how little room there is under the charger.I had a look at flusted
thread and he was using the same alt by the looks,so I guess i'll need to mod the rad support to fit.
