clutch change on an evo - DON'T TRY THIS AT HOME!!!

Post by pete_griff on Sat Sep 26, 2009 11:41 pm

well the clutch on my evo 6 decided to start slipping slightly the other day, so it's time for a change Sad

i made a start today and have got most of the way to getting it off. i've got the driveshafts, transfer shafts and transfer box off now. i've just got to separate the thrust bearing from the clutch cover (it's a pull clutch so removal involves the gayness of prying the bearing out of the cover with a screwdriver through a tiny access hole in the side of the box).
will be making a start on getting the box off tomorrow morning now.

i've put some pics up for you all below to show you just how much fun i'm having! my stepmum very very kindly has let me use her workshop to do it in which means i'm inside on a nice painted concrete floor with a sink and power - perfect (just minus the ramp!)
i also have decided that i'm going to buy an electric impact gun - i've borrowed one belonging to my friend and i don't know how i've managed all this time without one!

anyway - pics -
