Mate, proper interested. When do you think it would be available? Would the cam cover be included?

No cam cover is staying put but to be honest the cover doesn't look like that now as I fitted it to the old engine before going over to the Ring in Germany and it rained non stop through 4 bloody countries so by the time I got there it was covered in white corrosion so it is getting powder coated before refitting. I'm nearly ready to fit the new one but I'm just trying to figure out a time schedule cos I need the car daily and it will need a remap straight afterwards. I'll make some calls this week and get back to you as soon as I can. I guess it would be within the next month while kids are off school and work is quieter-ish! Very Happy

Excellent mate. That time frame suits me just right. Not too fussed about the cam cover as I can just polish up the one I have. Whereabouts are you based. I'd quite like to pick it up if possible.

It was done by Impulse Developments in September last year. I don't know where your based but if your anywhere near toad your a long way away from me. Very Happy

Will do. Looking at the calander I'd say Weekend of the 12th September I'd be swapping the heads so if I can get a mapping slot on the Monday I'm sorted. I'll let you know.

If your gonna fit a pulley and a front mount intercooler I have a PSD chip and red 310cc injectors going spare, injectors are about 2 years old (10-15000 miles). That's about it really.

Edit: oh yeah I might have a Apple MacBook for sale in a couple of weeks!! Whistle Laughing

Head is indeed off. Too late to do a compression test now but that would have been a good idea. I don't understand why some bits seem to be ok and others are just complete sh!t. Defo having that cylinder head of you CTWG60.... Look at the state of my old one! Shocked

Josephine, have you decided what you are going to do with your subframe?

Even the brake servo looks like it's had a hard life. I'm wondering if this car has spent a lot of its life by the sea. Salty sea wont have done it any good at all, if that is the case.

What does the battery tray look like?

Battery tray is just full of crud but not rusty. But brake servo is indeed rusty. How? Laughing Just been on ETKA compiling a list of engine parts I need. 25 different part numbers so far....

Think I will be having your sub frame mate. You can see where it's connected to the rear engine mount?... It's all just fused together in one lump of rust. I'm wondering if I'd even be able to separate them.

Yeah, perhaps not. Laughing I'm guessing that that engine mount has never been changed since new. How many miles as she done?

Not sure. The history on this car doesn't stack up. It has been clocked at some point. There's a mileage discrepancy on HPI and the clock shows 125k at the moment but dialog shows it at over 40k in 1993!

Hmm, that doesn't necessarily mean it's been clocked. I used my Pug 306 as a company car for the first 3 years of it's life and stacked up 60k miles on it, but for the last 6 years of it's life it only got to 110k.

No mate, it's definitely been clocked. When it came in for its second service with VW Dialog says just over 40K on the clock. That would have been March 1993. It then completely vanishes off of VWs radar. Then the 1st MOT cert dated 18/03/1994 says the recorded mileage is 24149! Laughing So the clock has been rolled back at least 20k. Nice. But as the first owner was putting 20k a year on it it may have been rolled back by up to 40k.

Is it a digital odometer? I would of thought that would be a bit hard to do back in the day. I think you struggle to find someone to do it today TBH. I mean it's not even as easy as modern vehicles with the plug for the ECU. You have to remove the clocks and either talk to the clocks through the plug or remove an eprom from the circuit and reflash it I would guess!

Yeah, it's a digital clock. What's to stop someone just taking the clock out of another car (a write off perhaps) with lower mileage? It would be worth doing if the mileage was gonna go down from 60k in three years to 24k in three years.

VW have the mileage recorded at 40k in 1993, then it turns up for it's first MOT a year later with 24k on the clock. There must be some way of doing it! Laughing It doesn't bother me though. Frankly I'd believe you if you told me it really had 250k on the clock! Laughing
