I'm wondering whether I can get some decent dimensions from some side and end profile pictures of a corrado, with a decent scale in the picture. Might be able to draw a grid and then measure it point by point.

There seems to be a lack of tech info for the corrado, although I know VAG aren't about to give out their detailed chassis schematics!

I remember seeing a very clever piece of kit that is basically a counter balanced mechanical arm with position sensors and a pin point at the end of it. You attach it securely and then move the pin point about. Press a button on a computer and it stores the x,y and z coordinates. Not sure what they are called, but I reckon getting hold of one of them and a Corrado chassis, and you'd be away!!

Haha! I've seen one used by a bloke fitting a 1.8T to a Dax Rush. The build was on one of the VW forums. Can't for the life of me remember which one. The used it to take measurements to build the exhaust manifold for the turbot. Then send the measurements off to a specialised comapny who made one of the sexiest manifolds I've seen.

Wow, fascinating stuff.

Rhino looks like another CAD program, a little less mainstream.

the 4 windows are really useful to check stuff is going right. I found a really simple way of making a 3d pipe recently. You tell the program what it looks like from 2 perspectives and it extrapolates into a 3d part. Great for things like rollcages, despite me doing it the hard way with x y z coords X(
