20v management

Post by junkie on Fri May 08, 2009 10:39 pm

Thinking of going factory management on the old 20v set up i want, did they get more sophisticated as time went on, can you by pass the immobiliser on them all or do they get that much more complicated and need the keys, clocks etc. Are there any capable enough to control safely at high levels of power.

Yeah it's a good setup with a MAF that detects flow in both directions, so no issues with running turbos in close proximity to it (a major headache on VRTs). The immobiliser (and other things) can be disabled. The very late ECUs communicate with the clocks (i.e. rev counter) via CAN bus, so you need a converter to get your rev needle moving correctly. They're available for about $60.

Assuming this is for your corrado?

If you're looking into CAN bus wiring Si, then I can fully recommend the Bosch book on Automotive Electronics - it's absolutely amazing and got me an A in my nemesis module, Electronics!

So long as the immobiliser and associated stuff can be disabled as i wont be using any of that as well as any corrado clocks etc im happy, so long as i wont have any tuning issues, bearing in mind i will be aiming for 500 ponies or more hopefully.

I have a perfectly good reason for doing this but im not going to tell anybody yet lol.

Already have a rev signal converter on the current set up so - check

Yes its for the Corrado - check

I think it's just a matter of setting the 'country of use' to a country that doesn't 'require' a CAT II immobiliser.
