Tyres and brakes
Ok, so now that the Corrado is going to be used as a bit of a track weapon, I need to think about tyres and brake pads.
As we want to be able to drive the Corrado to the track, any tryes need to be road legal. I have little/no knowledge of what is best for the track, so what tyres are the best for track use?
What about brake pads? Again, they don't need to be superb on the road, but of course good on the track. Would Ferodo DS2500 be track worthy? What about EBC red-stuff?
Any advice greatly received

Oh and this isn't a track prepped road car, more of a road legal track car

Red stuff's coped with Dave's beastie for 7 laps around Combe with 2 fat bifters sat in it....but maybe he wasnt trying hard enough? lol

Cool. Was that with 280s or 288s? The valver currently has 256s on it, just wondering whether it would be worth slinging my 280s on it. Also, is it worth going for cross drilled or grooved discs?

DS2500 is the intermediate pad between the 2000 road pad and 3000 track only pad (destroys wheel laquer), so will suit your needs perfectly.

I've used the 2500s before on Badcrumble when running 256s and they were much better than the Pagid fast roads with 280s.
What about tyres? Toyo R888? or maybe Yoko A048 (soft or medium?)??

DS2500s are a large step up from Pagid Fast road mate. The Pagids are more of an OE+ pad, but the Ferodo is a proper pad.... as you can probably gather in the huge price difference 
I've only ever tried R888s on the road and based on that experience, I'd say they're perfect for the track! Not tried the Yokos but I'd imagine they're a similar compound to the toyos.

That's where I went wrong then. Those DS2500 were stunningly good. I'll add them to the shopping list. And of course fit the 280s 
I'll have a look at the difference in price between the Toyo and Yoko nearer the time.
So, DOT 5.1 fluid and braided lines then? Is it worth fitting a brake bias valve, or will the load proportioning valve be up to the job, given that I'll be removing nearly all the interior??

If I was going to have top buy new hoses, discs and pads etc Id spend an extra £50 for some 288 calipers and carriers aswell. The 288 pads have about 40% more surface area to them.

I did think about fitting bigger standard calipers, but for now, I think I'll stick with the 280s

Yeah DOT5.1 is a must and I recommend Motul RBF600.
Why not fit the VR6 bearing carrier and hub and then you can fit the 288 discs and calipers etc? Plus you can pick up a cheap schitty set of VR6 speedlines for £50 and take advantage of the 205 section rubber too?
I don't think throwing money at the 280s is worth it to be honest mate but it's your call

VR6 bearing carriers could be a plan. That will give me the 5-stud without the extra track, n'est pas?

Indeed 
Seen plenty of MK2 Golfs wearing 5 stud rims with 288s. It's a good upgrade and all parts bin specials, so OE reliable
